Two Hearts, One Journey

Their story begins the way the best ones do — completely unplanned. Childhood tournaments, a move to Pennsylvania, and years in between. When the time finally brought them back into each other's orbit, it was clear the universe had been planning this all along. Today they are each other's best friends, each other's strength, and together they will unfold the story God had quietly planned all along.

Anand Karaj
Sikh Wedding Ceremony
Traditional attire
encouraged

Anand Karaj — meaning "blissful union" — is the Sikh wedding ceremony, performed in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib. The couple circles the holy scripture four times, with each round representing a vow of devotion, knowledge, divine love, and spiritual balance. We invite you to witness and celebrate this beautiful tradition with us.

Anand Karaj Attire

We warmly encourage traditional attire. Please be mindful that guests will be seated on the floor inside the Gurudwara — comfortable, modest clothing is appreciated. Heads must be covered; scarves will be available.

Anand Karaj Itinerary

A guide to the events of our wedding day, from the first meeting of our families to the final celebration together.

Milni
The first formal meeting of both families. The groom's family is welcomed by the bride's family, and relatives are paired and introduced to one another with garlands.
Tea & Refreshments
Before the ceremony begins, guests are invited to gather, greet one another, and enjoy light refreshments.
Ceremony inside Darbar Hall
Ardas
A congregational prayer offered in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib. The ceremony formally begins as the sangat (congregation) bows together in supplication, seeking divine blessings for the union about to take place.
Palla Rasam
The bride's father places one end of the groom's palla (scarf) into the bride's hand, symbolically giving his daughter into the care of her husband and his family.
Laavan
The heart of the Anand Karaj. The couple walks together around the Guru Granth Sahib four times as the four Laavan shabads are recited and sung. Each round marks a deepening stage of the soul's journey toward the Divine — and toward each other.
Anand Sahib
The "Song of Bliss" — six stanzas from the Guru Granth Sahib are sung to celebrate the completion of the marriage.
Ardas & Hukamnama
A closing prayer of gratitude is offered, followed by the Hukamnama — a reading from the Guru Granth Sahib that serves as the divine word and blessing for the newly married couple.
Post Ceremony
Langar
Guests are invited to gather for a celebratory meal, share in the joy of the day, and celebrate with the whole sangat (congregation).
